English for Tertiary studies (ETS) is the direct entry English course for international students at UOW (University of Wollongong) College. In 2018 the ETS course underwent major restructure, which transformed the ETS curricula as well as its formative and summative assessment tasks. It led to the introduction of new curricula and assessment tasks as well as enabled better alignment of the different aspects of the course and the assessment tasks. However, disruptions and challenges brought about by Covid 19 to the traditional form and delivery of the course led teachers to have another fresh look at the course, particularly addressing online delivery. Both these processes led to increased relevance of assessment tasks with those at the university, increased student engagement as well as more productive and enhanced feedback. However, like any transformative journey, the ETS course restructure also experienced its fair share of challenges. This presentation, with a focus on the processes of review, will share the transformations in the methods of delivery, curricula and assessment tasks as well as some of the challenges faced during the review and implementation of the changes.
