Bio
Brendan is the Academic Manager at Times Academy in Sydney. He has worked in the ELICOS industry for over 15 years and has held multiple teaching and academic management positions. He has secured initial CRICOS registration for several ELICOS providers and developed numerous courses for General English, EAP, EHSP as well as test preparation courses. His journey into the profession began with the deep end experience of supply teacher at Southeast London high schools. Upon returning home he drifted into relief teaching at high schools on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. From there, he found himself teaching English conversation in Japan and stumbled across his true calling.
Brendan has an MA in Applied Linguistics, a Graduate Diploma in Education, and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies. He was also a member of the last cohort of students to complete what was then known as a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. As an enthusiastic teacher who enjoys mentoring new teachers he derives great satisfaction from creating and administering language assessment instruments.
