Bio
My name is Kit Perry and I am the Principal Executive Officer and owner of Townsville International English School (TIES). I started TIES with my wife Yvette Perry because we wanted to create a school that reflected who we are as educators and what we believe a great education should look like. I am a passionate educator who believes in the intrinsically transformational nature of a great teacher. I believe that great education is a result of placing students at the centre of teaching and learning, so my pedagogy always begins with the needs, interests and motivations of my students as a starting point from which I can build. I always aim to inspire my students to be independent, imaginative lifelong learners. My goal isn’t simply to teach content and prepare students for an exam, but to engage them in developing the skills, knowledge and perspective necessary to be successful, whatever that may mean to each student.
I am also a member of the NEAS Advisory Council and the President of Study Townsville. I have two beautiful children, a dog, two chickens and I drive an old Toyota Landcruiser we call ‘Frank’, and in a previous life I was a Drama and Music teacher. I still teach English at TIES and absolutely love my job and life in the tropics.
