Conference Theme

The 2026 NEAS Conference theme is Believe. Through keynote presentations, workshops, and shared discussion, the conference explores how purpose, connection, and possibility continue to shape English language education.

2026 Theme

Believe

Believe in purpose.
Believe in connection.
Believe in possibility.

For some, it may be found in the confidence learners gain as they find their voice. For others, it lies in the shared commitment of colleagues or the conviction that education can open pathways to a more inclusive world. Through the frameworks of quality assurance, this belief takes form, transforming aspiration into action.

With integrity and care at the heart of our work, the NEAS 2026 Conference will explore how belief sustains and strengthens our profession. Through keynote presentations, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities, the program will showcase innovation, celebrate diversity, and reaffirm the role of English language education as a bridge to both purpose and possibility.

Focus Questions
  1. How does belief influence learning design?
  2. How can collaboration enhance quality?
  3. How do we sustain belief in education?
Program Streams

Three Streams

Perspectives across student journeys

NEAS 2026 brings together three program streams reflecting how we contribute to students’ learning journeys across English language education.

ELICOS and EAL

In this stream we consider the future of ELICOS. We will examine emerging trends, evolving student expectations, sector sustainability, and innovation in delivery that will shape the next phase of adult English language education.

We will also cover classroom strategies, curriculum design, and evidence-based approaches to support language acquisition.

English in Schools

This stream explores the emerging prominence of the school sector, linking program design with market strategy and long-term sustainability. These sessions are about quality, consistency at scale, and most importantly shaping the future for young people effectively. We will cover strategies for testing and measuring proficiency, best practice in student welfare and support, strengthening academic readiness and engagement for under-18 learners, as well as governance and regulatory requirements.

Student Services & Homestay

This stream allows us to explore the critical accommodation and welfare dimension for international students. Long present in the NEAS QAF, and recently enhanced by the homestay standards, this area is worthy of new focus as we explore the importance of social license.

Conference Perspective

Sessions will look at how systems, leadership, and partnerships shape the student experience across learning, accommodation, wellbeing, and cultural transition. It focuses on quality, coordination, and sector collaboration, highlighting how shared standards and professional networks are shaping the future of student services.

Together, they reflect the ecosystem of English Language Teaching in international education - from learning design to student support. We recognise the wider international education environment, but approach it through an ELT lens that sees students first as people. By understanding the linguistic, cultural, and emotional dimensions of transition, ELT contributes a deeply human perspective that elevates care, belonging, and long-term educational outcomes.

The conference creates space for these conversations to sit alongside one another, recognising that meaningful improvement happens when perspectives come together and when learning is seen as a collective responsibility.
