Rebuilding the ELT Profession in Ukraine
Date: Friday, 05 May 2023
Time: 15:10 - 15:45
Presenter: His Excellency Mr Vasyl Myroshnychenko
The impact of key world events in the Ukraine region has meant that the English language Teaching (ELT) profession in Ukraine has been shaken to its core. Prior to the regional unrest Ukrainians had already adopted English as the lingua franca in order to function effectively in global markets.
English language schools and colleges are a vital part of the Ukrainian economy, and the quick rebuilding of this sector needs support from countries such as Australia. In this presentation His Excellency Mr Vasyl Myroshnychenko will be calling for the extension of support from the Australian ELT professionals and centres in assisting remaining English language teachers in Ukraine as well as displaced ones to hold on to and indeed advance their ELT profession. By helping these teachers, new global ties and partnerships will be created and opportunities for reinstating this crucial member of the global economy can be fostered.
