All our tests are delivered online, formally aligned to the CEFR and academically designed and managed by the world-leading Centre for Research in English Language Learning and Assessment (CRELLA). In Australia, Password tests are used primarily for admissions and arrivals testing for ELICOS, pathway and university programs.

Through consultation and collaboration, Password English Language Testing offer world-class online English language and Maths assessment in response to the requirements of our educational partners and their applicants and students. Password tests occupy a unique position in the English language assessment market through our delivery of bespoke English language and Maths assessments. Our partner institutions are provided with an easy to access, user friendly platform and world class test content which they can customise. Additionally, partners have total control and ownership of their test results.
Since our establishment in 2008, we have enabled hundreds of universities, colleges and schools to enhance international student recruitment whilst also improving student retention. We offer a full four skills test of academic English, a test of academic English language knowledge and writing and bespoke combinations of each of those test modules. In September 2022, we also began delivering tests securely to students in their own homes, in partnership with world- leading proctors Meazure Learning.
All Password English tests are academically designed and managed by the Centre For Research In English Language Learning And Assessment (CRELLA ) based at the University of Bedfordshire in the UK. Founded by Professor Cyril Weir OBE and now directed by Professor Tony Green, CRELLA are a research group of world leading experts responsible for the design and validation of many globally renowned English language exams. The tests are formally aligned to the CEFR and designed to match closely the descriptors for language competence between levels CEFR A2 to C1.
Password test results are stored in each of our partners’ private results area of the Password database where they can be searched, sorted, viewed, and downloaded. Co-branded results certificates, showing Password scores and CEFR levels are also printed from this area.
In Australia, Password tests are used primarily for admissions and arrivals testing for ELICOS, pathway and other pre-university programs. For example, the Password Knowledge and Writing test is used by Australian universities and colleges for admission to ELICOS and pathway programs. Test results determine the length and type of ELICOS or pathway course required before university level study. The Password Skills test is used to assess students at the end of an ELICOS or pathway program who are progressing to university level courses.
