Australian ELT providers have been partnering with offshore providers for decades.  Transnational partnerships are a sustainable way for Australian providers to grow and compete internationally as well as develop greater understanding of the cultural contexts of their international partners.

Transnational arrangements between Australian and offshore providers include delivering programs through distance learning modes, teacher and/or student exchanges and offshore campuses.

Students choose international study pathways for many reasons; to gain a credential from a top education institution, to get an edge when competing in the job market, to immerse themselves in a foreign culture, to acquire language skills or to learn about themselves whilst becoming independent.

Stakeholder Survey Reveals Strong Sector Support for Ongoing, Independent, Non-Governmental Expert Quality Assurance of English Language Teaching

NEAS has recently undertaken surveys and interviews with members and key government and education sector stakeholders. Survey responses from 178 key NEAS stakeholders reveals that the majority believe NEAS is a key service offering for the industry, with 38% rating it ‘essential’ (9 or 10). Stakeholders most value NEAS’ quality assurance and endorsement. Continuous improvement is also important to stakeholders who are seeking more professional development from NEAS around online delivery and flexible approaches to adapt to our rapidly changing environment.

The Online Delivery of Australian English Language Teaching must also be a Gold Standard Experience for Students

With the impact of COVID-19 still reverberating through our society and economy, the English Language Teaching community in Australia is striving to continue to be able to deliver high standards of learning in a fast-changing environment.

It’s already a huge challenge for students to leave their homes and families behind and come to a country where they do not speak the language, to acquire an education, and often take steps to improve their English skills after hours, commonly at their own expense.

After the success of the NEAS Health Check for Quality Area H – Online Delivery, some members have extended their continuous improvement activities in this area by applying to have their remote delivery models Quality Assured by NEAS.

The following centres are the first to achieve NEAS Quality Endorsement for Online Delivery, and we would like to congratulate them for this achievement.

As at 1 July 2020, another three quality centres have reached the milestone of 25 years of continuous quality endorsement with NEAS! Each has demonstrated their commitment to quality through 25 years of membership with NEAS and now join the exclusive group awarded the ’25 Years Quality Commitment’ logo. We look forward to celebrating their achievement at the 2021 NEAS Management Conference, confirmed now for 6-7 May 2021, Doltone House Sydney.
