Accompanying networking are the benefits of expanding knowledge and developing professional skills. Interacting with esteemed leaders and industry innovators provides insights into emerging trends and advances skill development. With practical insights and actionable strategies, the 2024 NEAS Management Conference was specifically designed to inspire you and empower you to enhance your skills, advance your careers, and achieve your goals.

Another benefit of the NEAS conference is that it offers exposure to industry leaders who share their expertise and insights. These thought leaders offer invaluable perspectives, inspire innovation, and provide guidance on navigating challenges and seizing opportunities in the industry.

Lastly, participating in industry conferences can enhance your professional visibility and elevate your brand presence within the industry. Preparing for Networking Success: 5 Tips for the 2024 NEAS Management Conference

As the anticipation builds for the upcoming 2024 NEAS Management Conference, you could be wondering how to make the most of the networking opportunities an event like this presents.

At NEAS, we aim to facilitate connections and create a community of industry leaders, educators, and professionals who exchange ideas and best practice, for the benefit of the whole sector.

Whether you are attending this year, or not, you want to take a look at these tips and refine your networking skills!

Set Clear Objectives
What are your objectives? Are you looking for like-minded people to discuss ideas and share best practice with?  Do you want some feedback on your latest project or initiative?

Whatever your goal, have it clear in your mind and start thinking about who best to approach to achieve it. And remember, the team at NEAS are here to help you connect with each other!

Be Approachable and Move Beyond Small Talk
Being genuine and approachable is key to making meaningful connections. Smile, be open, and initiate conversations.

And if small talk is not your strength, that’s OK! We are all here because we work in and around the ELT sector. Let’s have some meaningful conversations about our industry and how to make a positive contribution to it!

Listen Actively and Be Genuinely Interested
Networking is not just about talking; it’s also about listening. Show genuine interest in others by actively listening to their experiences, perspectives, and challenges. Ask thoughtful questions, share insights, and engage in meaningful conversations that demonstrate your genuine interest in building relationships. You might be able to help them achieve their objectives too!

Be Intentional and Think Long-Term
Remember the objectives you set at the beginning? You might not be able to achieve what you are aiming for in one exchange with one stranger. Look at the big picture and consider a long-term approach. Do you need to share your ideas with more than one person to get effective feedback? Do you need help with introductions to potential partners after the event? Remember: this is only the first step.

Follow Up
The networking doesn’t end when the conference does. After the event, take the time to follow up with the people you met. Keep in touch, show them what you have to offer, and reiterate your interest in staying connected and exploring potential opportunities for collaboration or further discussion.

As you prepare for the 2024 NEAS Management Conference, keep these networking tips in mind to make the most out of your experience.

We look forward to seeing you at the conference and witnessing the valuable connections and collaborations that emerge from our shared passion for excellence in English Language Teaching.

News from Adam

Welcome to the latest edition of our CEO’s column News From Adam.

It’s strategic planning time at NEAS. We’ve been looking ahead, making decisions about where we want to be. You’d appreciate that this process has me doing some research, reflecting and, well, thinking fairly deeply about NEAS. In addition to all the usual market statistics and scans of our environment, I’ve been looking at documents from the past: board papers, financials, considerations of ways forward from others, strategic plans of the past. It’s fascinating. And what have I synthesised from all of this? NEAS has had some great staff and leaders in its midst (really, it has a history of contribution!) but there is an essence to NEAS that is somehow greater than any individual board member, employee or CEO, for that matter. The dedication to quality runs throughout, of course, and so it should!  For me, though, NEAS has always been about its membership.

And now?

NEAS is a community of ELT providers (and others!) banded by quality. It still is an association of members. Our new strategic plan will put members first. We offer great value, and we’re going to continue increasing that value to a growing, diversifying membership. In building communities, NEAS aims to meet the needs of its sponsors and other partners too. We feed an ecosystem of collaboration and innovation for our sector, with various parties making different contributions. Let’s not forget the role we play for students and the broader community. We’re a community that gives or shares, and this too will be part of our new plan.

NEAS is a forward-looking, learning organisation and I’m filled with anticipation for our future.  The near future holds our upcoming conference on May 9 and 10. I’ll be talking to you then about NEAS, its past, its present and its future, so I’ll stop now to hold you in some suspense! And if you’re not interested in any of this navel gazing: no worries! There are some excellent speakers of insight and intelligence lined up.
We’re making arrangements to fit in some extra places, but you’ve really got to get in and register now. It’s filling up.
